Keyboard

A keyboard is an input device used to input characters and symbols into the computer. Most keyboards have a QWERTY layout.

Pointing Devices

Pointing devices are used to control the cursor. Examples are mouse, touchpad and trackball.

Mouse

A wired mouse is connected to a computer by a USB cable. A wireless moue uses a Bluetooth or radio-frequency (RF) connection.

Trackpad/ Touchpad

A trackpad or touchpad is usually found on notebook computer. User move their fingers on the trackpad to move the cursor and perform other actions such as scrolling and zooming.

Trackball

A trackball controls the cursor by rolling the ball in different directions. It requires less space than using a mouse as the user does not have to move the device.

Joystick

A joystick in commonly used for video gaming.

Image Scanner

An image scanner scans an image, a document or an object and converts it to a digital image. They are then saved as an image format. Scanned text can be converted into editable text using Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

Barcode / QR Code Scanner

It reads the barcodes or QR codes printed on different objects such as goods and student cards and translate the image of the codes into text data.
